PRAYER FOR PEACE

You are the peace of all things calm
You are the place to hide from harm
You are the light that shines in dark
You are the heart's eternal spark
You are the door that's open wide
You are the guest who waits inside
You are the stranger at the door
You are the calling of the poor
You are my Lord and with me still
You are my love, keep me from ill
You are the light, the truth, the way
You are my Saviour this very day.

*CALL TO CONTINUING WORSHIP
One: Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Many:  so you will live in the land, and enjoy security.
One:  Take delight in the Lord,
Many:  and he will give you the desires of your heart.
One:  Commit your way to the Lord;
Many:  trust in him, and he will act.
One:  He will make your vindication shine like the light,
Many:  and the justice of your cause like the noonday.
All:  Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him.

 *PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we to pray, and to give more than we either desire or deserve. Pour upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things for which we are not worthy to ask, except through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ our Savior, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

 *SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION
*DECLARATION OF FORGIVENESS
…Friends, believe the good news of the gospel:
In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God!

*THE GLORIA
Glory to God, whose goodness shines on me,
and to the Son, whose grace has pardoned me,
and to the Spirit, whose love has set me free.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. Amen.

World without end, without end. Amen.
World without end, without end. Amen.
World without end, without end. Amen.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. Amen.

 *PASSING OF THE PEACE
The peace of Christ is with you
And also with you.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
FIRST SCRIPTURE READING  |   Luke 17:5-10 |   p. 75 / 97 NT
ANTHEM  |   A Light in the Upper Room  |   Douglas Nolan
SECOND SCRIPTURE READINGS |  From The Message

Lamentations 1:1-7 Oh, oh, oh…How empty the city, once teeming with people. A widow, this city, once in the front rank of nations, once queen of the ball, she’s now a drudge in the kitchen.  She cries herself to sleep each night, tears soaking her pillow.  No one’s left among her lovers to sit and hold her hand.  Her friends have all dumped her. After years of pain and hard labor, Judah has gone into exile.  She camps out among the nations, never feels at home.  Hunted by all, she’s stuck between a rock and a hard place. Zion’s roads weep, empty of pilgrims headed to the feasts. All her city gates are deserted, her priests in despair.  Her virgins are sad. How bitter her fate. Her enemies have become her masters. Her foes are living it up because God laid her low, punishing her repeated rebellions.  Her children, prisoners of the enemy, trudge into exile. All beauty has drained from Daughter Zion’s face. Her princes are like deer famished for food, chased to exhaustion by hunters. Jerusalem remembers the day she lost everything, when her people fell into enemy hands, and not a soul there to help.  Enemies looked on and laughed, laughed at her helpless silence.

Lamentations 3:19-26  I’ll never forget the trouble, the utter lostness, the taste of ashes, the poison I’ve swallowed. I remember it all—oh, how well I remember—the feeling of hitting the bottom. But there’s one other thing I remember, and remembering, I keep a grip on hope: God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out, his merciful love couldn’t have dried up. They’re created new every morning.  How great your faithfulness! I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over). He’s all I’ve got left. God proves to be good to the man who passionately waits, to the woman who diligently seeks. It’s a good thing to quietly hope, quietly hope for help from God.

Thanks be to God!

WE RESPOND TO GOD’S WORD

*HYMN 501   |   Feed Us, Lord  |   Feed Us
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH    |   The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  Amen.

 SEALING OF THE WORD

INVITATION TO THE LORD’S TABLE

GREAT PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
…Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

WORDS OF INSTITUTION
SHARING OF THE MEAL
(All who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord, regardless of age or denomination, are invited to partake in the Sacrament of Communion. Today we will serve Communion by intinction. Please come forward down the center aisle. Take a piece of the bread from one of the trays and dip it into the cup and eat. Or you may take an individual cup from the tray and drink. We also have gluten free bread available. Return to your seat by the side aisle. If you are unable to come forward, please indicate this to the pastor and the sacrament will be brought to you.)

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION
Loving God, we thank you that you have fed us in this Sacrament, united us with Christ, and given us a foretaste of the heavenly banquet in your eternal kingdom. Send us out in the power of your Spirit to live and work to your praise and glory, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
