CALL TO WORSHIP
One: The Lord is our light and my salvation.
Many: Should we fear anyone?
One: The Lord is a fortress protecting our lives.
Many: Should we be frightened of anything?
One: We have asked one thing from the Lord—it’s all we seek:
Many: to live in the Lord’s house all the days of our lives, seeing the Lord’s beauty and constantly adoring his temple.
One: Because he will shelter us in his own dwelling during troubling times; Many: he will hide us in a secret place in his own tent;
All: he will set us up high, safe on a rock
HYMN 35 | Praise Ye the Lord, the Almighty | Lobe Den Herren
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
We come before you, healing and comforting God, feeling not only the infirmities and pain of our bodies, but also the infirmities and pains that beset our communities, nation and indeed the world itself. We know that our wisdom seems to fall short and our attempts to make it all better don’t. Help us in opening our hearts and souls to you to feel the power of your healing spirit enter in. Help us also to accept being made whole on your terms instead of ours. Amen.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH | Westminster Confession of Faith 6.186
By the indwelling of the Holy Spirit all believers being vitally united to Christ, who is the head, are thus united one to another in the Church, which is his body. He calls and anoints ministers for their holy office, qualifies all other officers in the Church for their special work, and imparts various gifts and graces to its members. He gives efficacy to the Word and to the ordinances of the gospel. By him the Church will be preserved, increased, purified, and at last made perfectly holy in the presence of God.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
…Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Creator God, giver of all that is good and life giving, see in our gifts our willingness to be a part of your church, the body of Christ. Just as neither our checks are not written nor our wallets are opened magically, but by our actions, so let us actively be a part of your family of faith. Amen.
